Vinnytsia employment experts teach gender-sensitive counselling in the frame of the Igma-Femina project

The first Igma-Femina training was held in Vinnytsia (Ukraine) on March 19th, aiming to improve access to the education and gender-sensitive career counselling for migrants and refuges women.

At the first training, the organizers invited representatives from educational institutions, public organizations, employment offices and employers. The project coordinator Sergii Tatusiak welcomed and told participants about the importance of such project implementation in Ukraine and Vinnytsia region particular.

The training was conducted by Taisiia Levchenko, trainer of international educational projects Erasmus +. She offered a non-standard approach - at the first training the participants did not receive any theoretical material for consideration. Instead, they work in teams, responded to key questions related to gender-sensitive counselling themselves.

"The project itself is based on the fact that all its strength is in the interaction and synergy of people", - the trainer noted.  It was a debatable moment of training when there was discussion whether it needs to focus on gender or not. First of all, participants considered that there are personal and professional qualities, not gender. Therefore, the conclusion was that gender-sensitive counselling is the provision of equal opportunities tailored to specific needs, an individual approach to each and focus on the present and future opportunities of every woman in need of employment assistance.

It is planned to hold additional 3 pieces of training in the frame of the project Igma-femina in Vinnytsia during which will be considered the topics about Igma-femina methodology, effective cooperation of stakeholders regional network and self-development and counteraction to the emotional burnout of a career consultant.
